About 1688, Chinese traders who have gone to the Coromandel Coast of India were in Maguindanao, together with two Indians from that place. They brought with them various goods from India.

Maguindanao was open to escaped slaves of various nationalities from other trading post as the Sukltan who wanted to increase population.Slaves from Angola and Mozambique coming by way of the Southeast Asian slave markets were later sold to Chinese.

Maguindanao traders were in Malacca in the Malay Peninsula which had ample contact with India.

Foreign influence penetrating Maguindanao Society was an integral part of its culture.
